Louise Porter Buchanan

Louise Porter Buchanan, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29th at the age of 78.

Born on October 15, 1947, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Louise was the cherished daughter of the late William Lamar and Katherine Porter. Growing up in Orangeburg, she developed a warmth and grace that she carried with her throughout her entire life. She was known for her quick and cheeky wit, her giving spirit, love of all things coastal, and her unwavering devotion to her Lord and Savior.

Louise’s greatest joy was undoubtedly her family. She was a beacon of love and support, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her legacy of love lives on through the family she adored so deeply.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barry Buchanan, and her dear brother, William Porter.

Louise leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory:

Her Devoted Daughter & Son-in-law: Stacy and Mark Scarrow.
Her Precious Grandchildren: Emma, Baylor, and Garrison Cathey, who were the absolute light of her life.
Her Stepchildren who she loved deeply: Mark Buchanan (Christina)and Michelle Watkins (Matt), Step Grandchildren; Matthew, Mark Jr., Tyler and Aaron
Her Sister-in-law: Connie Porter.
Her Niece & Nephews: Erin Porter Edgemon, Will Porter, Simms Porter, Webb Porter and Eric Christensen.

Funeral Service: June 13, 2026, 11:00 AM at Lake Forest Church, 8519 Gilead Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078 Reception to immediately follow at Stacy & Mark's house, 15800 Henry Lane, Huntersville, NC 28078In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Louise’s memory to Dr. David Jeremiah/ Turning Point Ministries or your local Hospice.
