Lynda Beard Jones, 78 of Charlotte, NC passed away on March 29, 2026.
Lynda was born in Charlotte, NC on June 1, 1947 to the late Margie Beard and Hurley Beard.
Most of Lynda's career was with Ingersoll Rand in Davidson until she opened her own flower shop in Charlotte called The Florist Ltd. She loved auto racing, playing cards, golf, playing piano at her church and most of all spending every moment she could with her grandkids.
She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Jones; daughter Shelly Jones (Bill Vasil); grandchildren Sam Jones, Nick Farster and Gunnar Vasil.
Lynda grew up in the Mallard Creek area of Charlotte. She spent most of her time playing with cousins and at her grandmother's house where she did chores on the farm. As a teenager she played piano at Prosperity Church and worked at Ivey's Department store in downtown Charlotte after school. She graduated in 1965 from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville.
Her daughter Cheryl was born in 1966 and Shelly in 1971. Much of their early life centered around her husband's job in Nascar racing and traveling to different tracks on the weekends. Most of Lynda's career was with Ingersoll Rand in Davidson until she opened her own flower shop in 1991 called The Florist Ltd. Cheryl worked by her side in the new venture and Shelly pitched in during busy holidays along with several of the girl's friends. Their friends loved Lynda and she was always included when they got together.
Her favorite thing in life were her grandkids Sam, Nick and Gunnar. She loved spoiling them with frequent trips to Chuck E Cheese, Ray's Splash Planet, drag races and of course, yard sales! She was well known by parents and players as Gunnar's grandma because she rarely missed a game, no matter where she had to travel.
Lynda's hobbies included playing golf, bowling, church pianist, playing cards with friends, sewing & quilt making, attending the Jolly 60's functions and monthly lunches with her Derita Girls. She loved Chinese food, Mexican food with a good margarita and Jim Beam. Her TV consisted of Nascar races, golf, drag racing, SWAT and the Price is Right.
Lynda never met a stranger. She loved to talk and spoke with everyone like they were old friends. She left a lasting impression on those around her and will be remembered as a person full of life, up for any adventure, feisty & sarcastic but mostly for showing up and loving her family.
The family will receive friends and family Monday, April 6th from 1:00-3:00 with a memorial service directly following at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
