Lyndell Cummings

Lyndell Ruth Cummings, 81, of Davidson, NC passed away on October 11, 2022, at Cadence of Mooresville after a 10-month long battle with cholangiocarcinoma.

She was born in Warrensburg, MO on November 18, 1940, to the late Charles M.  and Arcelia Carter.

Lyn is survived by her daughter, Shelly Cummings (Ellyn Maine) of Chapel Hill, NC; her son, Craig Cummings (Sara Cummings) of Davidson, NC and her 3 beloved grandchildren, Molly Cummings, Mark Cummings, and Madelyn Cummings all of Davidson, NC.

In addition to her parents, Lyn was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Cummings, and her brother, Charles M. Carter Jr.

Lyn was a lifelong educator and taught kindergarten and 3rd grade at The Country School in Easton, Maryland for 36 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Easton, MD, where she sang in the choir.  After retiring from teaching in 2004, she moved to Cornelius, NC to be near her son and his family. She became a member of the Lake Norman Baptist Church in Huntersville, NC, and an active member of their choir. Her love of singing brought several very special friends in to her life with whom she enjoyed singing at nursing homes followed by lunch outings.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC. The family will receive friends for a gathering one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in memory of Lyn to Hospice & Palliative Care Lake Norman, 705 Griffith St Suite 203 Davidson, NC  28036.
