Marilyn Elliott Roy

Marilyn Elliott Roy, 77, of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022. She was born in Georgetown, SC on April 28, 1945, the daughter of the late D.W. Elliott and Pauline Howard Elliott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael Lee Elliott and Glen E. Elliott.

Marilyn was an active member of University City United Methodist Church where she was active in the UC Women’s Group. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved spending time with her grandchildren.  Marilyn was an avid gardener and loved tending to her plants. Her many hobbies included spending time in nature, observing wildlife, traveling, trips to the beach, fishing, and sewing. Above all, Marilyn loved the Lord and put Him first in her life.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Paul H. Roy; children, Annette Owens, Donna Hubbard and spouse David, Richard Owens and spouse Andrew Cawthon, Cheryl Smith, and Lauren Roy Mendell and spouse Robert; siblings, Paul “Tykie” Howard, Doddie Wayne Elliott, J. Alvin Elliott and spouse Jennie Lee, Melvin A. “Dooley” Elliott and spouse Teresa, Patricia A. Moorefield, and Teresa L. Smith and spouse Joe; grandchildren, Daesha M. Stafford, Aaron Anderson, Dillon Hubbard, Sadie Covington, and Bailey Covington; and five great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, 12:00 noon, at University City United Methodist Church. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed below, or by clicking VIEW LIVESTREAM. The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 11:45 AM prior to the service. Interment will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, 1:00 PM, at Sampit United Methodist Church Cemetery, Georgetown, South Carolina.
