Marion Threatt Beard

December 24, 1921 — November 18, 2010

Marion Lorraine Threatt Beard, Nana, born December 24, 1921, passed away in her home on November 18, 2010, the 67th anniversary of her wedding to Billy Papa Beard, who was already waiting for her in heaven. Marion was also preceded in death by seven siblings. Celebrating her life on earth are her daughter Kitty Soesbee (Jim) of Huntersville, sons Jerry Beard (Kathy) of Denver, CO., David Beard (Karen) of Huntersville, and Randy Beard of Huntersville; siblings Margaret Nance (Buford), Jack Threatt, and Betty Robinson, all of Charlotte; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. For many years, Nana was a powerful leader at Gilead Associate Reformed Presbyterian, working untiringly with the youth, choir, and Women of the Church programs. For decades, myriads of people have enjoyed the fruits of Nanas multiple talents, which included ceramics, china painting, crocheting, gardening, and cooking. An avid ACC basketball fan, Nana also loved traveling to the beach and mountains with her family or her bridge club friends. The Beard family is most grateful to the folks who helped care for Nana Presbyterian Hospital of Huntersville, Lakeside Family Physicians of Cornelius, and the staff of Synergy Home Care of Lake Norman and Charlotte. We will fondly remember Nanas Southern charm and cherish her feisty spirit, and we are thankful for the beautiful and loving example of a Mama and a Nana. She loved her crafts, her farm, her family, but above all, her Lord. Because she showed us how to love and be loved, and how to put Christ first in our lives, we are confident that we will be reunited with Nana and Papa in heaven. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Raymer Funeral Home on Saturday, November 20. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 2:30pm Sunday November 21 at Gilead ARP Church with a 3:00pm funeral service to follow. Memorials may be made to the general fund of Gilead ARP Church, 15303 Beatties Ford Rd., Huntersville, NC 28078.
