Marsha Lee Ezell Pearce, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and beloved school counselor passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, at the age of 81 in Mooresville, North Carolina. Born on November 4, 1942, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marsha lived a life dedicated to nurturing and uplifting those around her.
As a mother, she navigated and shepherded her family of three growing children with many moves across the East Coast. She made each of these moves seamless for her children by always ensuring they adapted and thrived in their new environments.
Beyond raising a family, Marsha’s influence extended into the classroom. Marsha's career as a teacher and school counselor was her true passion. She loved teaching and counseling her students, specifically helping them navigate the challenges of life.
A proud graduate of Mars Hill University, Marsha furthered her education by obtaining her master’s degree in psychology from Tennessee State University. Her academic accomplishments reflected her commitment to lifelong learning and growth, which she inspired in her students and family alike.
In addition to her professional achievements, Marsha was a loving mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law. Her grandchildren affectionately referred to her as Taun Taun, a testament to the warm relationship she cultivated with them. Marsha is survived by her children: Monica Pearce Marsilio and Jason, Gregory Scott Pearce and Kathy, and Kenneth Hugh Pearce Jr. and Charlotte. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Garrett Pearce, Hunter Pearce, Luke Pearce, Jordan Pearce, Austin Pearce, Justin Marsilio, and Julia Marsilio, along with many nieces.
Marsha shared her life with her brothers, Hack Ezell and Pat, and Doug Ezell. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Haskell Ezell, her mother, Margaret Hazel McManus Ezell, her husband, Kenneth Hugh Pearce Sr., and her sister-in-law, Sue Smith.
Beyond her professional life, Marsha had many interests that brought her joy. She enjoyed playing golf with Ken, had a deep love for Cherokee and the mountains of North Carolina, and she was an excellent piano player. She also was a talented piano teacher for many years while raising her children. Her loyal canine companion, Josie, often accompanied her on her daily adventures, bringing additional warmth to Marsha's life and her many friends.
Marsha's memorial services are set to be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Raymer - Kepner in Huntersville, North Carolina. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Chaplain Rick Felts. Marsha Lee Pearce leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and dedication and she was deeply cherished by her family, friends, and community across the East Coast. She will forever be remembered for her unwavering spirit and her devotion to making a positive difference in the lives of those around her.
