Martin Michael Rooney

Martin M. Rooney, age 81, of Huntersville, North Carolina, formerly of Sayreville, New Jersey, and Stuart, Florida, passed away peacefully in the morning of October 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on November 17, 1943, son of the late Martin and Esther Rooney. Martin grew up in Jersey City and attended St. Peter’s Preparatory School. He continued his education at St. Peter’s College, where he excelled as a member of the crew team.

After college, Martin married Jeanne Maynard, and together they shared a devoted marriage that lasted until her passing in January 2025. Soon after their marriage, Martin was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served in Germany with the 4th Armored Division. Upon returning from Europe, Martin and Jeanne settled in Sayreville, New Jersey, where they raised their family and lived for over forty years.

Martin began his professional career with Prudential in Newark, NJ, later joined IBM, and eventually became Vice President at Online Software based in Fort Lee, NJ. With the experience he gained throughout his career, he went on to found and serve as President of Themis Education, where he continued his lifelong commitment to innovation and leadership.

After retirement, Martin and Jeanne enjoyed wonderful years in Stuart, Florida, before relocating to Huntersville, North Carolina.

Martin is survived by his son Martin, his daughter Kimberly, his sister Margaret, and five beloved grandchildren.

An avid fisherman and lifelong lover of the ocean, Martin’s fondest memories were of time spent at the beach in Seaside Park, New Jersey. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, quick wit, and the laughter he brought to those around him.
