Melva M. Goldhammer

October 23, 1944 — January 27, 2021

Melva M. Goldhammer, 76, of Charlotte, NC passed away on January 27, 2021.

She was born in Taylorville, IL on October 23, 1944 to the late Melvin Tarrant and Amanda Bode Tarrant.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her son, Ryan William Goldhammer and her sister, Kathryn Cox.

Melva is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill Goldhammer, their son, Kip Goldhammer, his wife Denise, her grandchildren, Anthony, Ayden, Kirsten, Conner, Kayleigh and her sister, Shirley Poore.

Melva graduated from Auburn University with a master’s in art education.  She enjoyed teaching and was deeply passionate about her career as a teacher and educator. Following her retirement as an art teacher she enjoyed volunteering as a docent at the Mint Museum in Charlotte and playing music with her dulcimer group. She loved taking her family on adventures, some of which included skiing, water sports, camping, hiking, skydiving, and most of all Scuba Diving.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on February 6th at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.

Face masks are required, please sit every other row and maintain social distancing as much as you can.  Thank you.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Melva.
