Nancy Withers Dishman passed away Sunday, July 23rd at the age of 75.
Nancy was a graduate of Queens College in Charlotte and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her love of singing was showcased in the Queens College touring choir and later as a member of the Davidson United Methodist Church.
She spent nearly 40 years in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library system, 25 of which she managed the branch in her hometown of Davidson.
A lifelong resident of Davidson, she delighted in telling stories of growing up around town. A simple car ride alongside Nancy was akin to a local history lesson.
Through the years, Nancy enjoyed family trips to Ocean Isle Beach, boating on the Intracoastal Waterway and cheering on Davidson College Basketball and the Atlanta Braves. Most prevalent was her love for animals, particularly horses and all of the dogs, cats and goats she provided a home for throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Johnsie Withers as well as her siblings Mary Sanders and Richard Withers.
She is survived by her two sons, Justin (Hollie) and Zach, along with siblings Elizabeth Estes, William Withers Jr., David Withers and her four grandchildren.
A private memorial will take place at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the ASPCA.
