Nancy Mitchell

December 9, 1932 — January 12, 2021

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother Nancy Gray Mitchell, age 88, of Davidson, North Carolina passed away peacefully at her home on January 12th 2021. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on December 9, 1932 to the late William and Edna Frye. Nancy graduated from Bowman Gray School of Nursing and later worked as a nurse and a nursing home administrator. She lived many years in the Washington, DC area where she raised her two daughters and was an active member of her community and church, which she served in many ways. She was generous, joyful, hardworking, strong and had an optimistic spirit and a beautiful, contagious smile.

Nancy lived the last twenty years of her life in Hendersonville, North Carolina, where she met her husband Neal Andreae, with whom she shared a love of nature, hiking and the beauty of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. A loving mother and grandmother, she cherished her time with her loved ones in memorable ways.

Nancy is preceded in death by her brother Norman Frye and sisters Ruth Lester, Betty Stoltz and Edith Welch. She is survived by her husband Neal Andreae, daughters Lynne Priestley of Cornelius, NC and Ann Mitchell Gronda and grandchildren Michael and David Priestley and Paula, Andrés and Marcos Gronda.
