Nancye Sinclair

Nancye Criminger Sinclair, age 88, of Davidson, NC passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022.  Nancye was born in Heath Springs, SC on September 20, 1933 to the late Clarence Columbus Criminger, Sr. and Melita Beam Criminger.  Along with her parents, Nancye was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William Crawford (Bill or Sonny) Sinclair and her brother, Clarence Columbus (Dick) Criminger, Jr.  She is survived by her wonderful children, daughter, Tammy Sinclair Bishop (Harvey), and son, William Anthony (Tony) Sinclair.

Nancye grew up in Lancaster, SC, where her dad was a deputy sheriff.  She was quite proud of her law enforcement family, including her brother, an Army Military Police Officer and her son, a retired Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Sergeant.  Nancye represented her town as Miss Lancaster in the official Miss America affiliated South Carolina pageant in 1955.  Nancye loved sports, especially Clemson football.  While her husband was an engineering student at Clemson, Nancye worked on campus.  The love for Clemson sports, especially football, endured the rest of her life.

Nancye enjoyed a career as an Administrative Assistant at Reeves Brothers manufacturing plant in Cornelius, NC.  She raised her two children in Davidson, and developed numerous friendships.  Nancye enjoyed many crafts, for which some assisted with college tuition!  Nancye retired at age 63 and spent her retirement years crafting and socializing.  Nancye is most notably known for her crocheted hot pads and her multi-colored crocheted afghans, which she loved giving to others.  Nancye is grateful for those visits and phone calls from so many friends during her less mobile years. 

The family will receive friends from 10-11:30am followed by a memorial service at 11:30am on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.
