Ora Lee Bumgarner

Mrs. Ora Lee Chapman Bumgarner, 91, of Charlotte went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday December 6, 2010. Born in Alexander County August 23, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Butler and Effie Brookshire Chapman. She was a member of Statesville Road Baptist Church where she and her late husband Horace taught the one year old nursery for 22 years. She enjoyed gardening, was a marvelous cook and was the epitome of Southern Hospitality. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday December 13, 2010 at Statesville Road Baptist Church with Rev. David Teague and Rev. Brian Teague officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery West. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Barbara Cochrane of Charlotte, Joyce Wilson of Denver, NC, Linda Teague of Harrisburg, and Marsha McMurray and husband Marshall of Charlotte; brothers, David Lynn Chapman and wife Billie of Charlotte, Eugene Chapman and wife Nadine of Stoney Point, NC; sister, Jewel Benton of Clemmons, NC; grandchildren, Alan Cochrane, Kim Covington, Charlene Porter, Andrea Burris, Brian and David Teague; great grandchildren, Madelyne, and Jordan Cochrane, Lauren Moore, Kaleb Covington, Rachel Porter, Ava and Arden Burris, Callie and Daniel Teague and Molly, Julia and Lanie Teague. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Horace; sister, Sarah Little; brothers, Howard, James, M.B. and Rev Doris Chapman and one grandchild, Matthew Williamson. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Stanley Total Living Center for their loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Bumgarner during her declining health.
