Patricia Ann Johnston, 86, of Mooresville, NC passed away on March 5, 2022.
John Lewis Johnston (Pete), 85, of Mooresville, NC passed away December 19, 2021. He was born May 19, 1935.
In addition to her husband, Patricia was also preceded in death by four sons, Gene Helms, Terry Helms, Mike Helms, and Jeff Helms.
Patricia and Pete are survived by daughters, Patsy Eudy, Melissa Bunn, Lorrie Loy and Myra Lawing as well as one son, Greg Helms.
Though Patricia & Pete were not each other's first love, they were each other's last. They met through their love of country music and dance. They married in 1983. Pete had no children, Patricia came with 9 adult children. Pete took Patricia's children as his own, helping them as he could along life's paths.
They enjoyed trips to the mountains rummaging through the roadside stores together until 2009 when Patricia's dementia required her to have twenty-four hour care.
Their love story did not end there, as the staff at Accordius in Mooresville can tell you. Pete became the number one advocate for Patricia and was at Accordius several times a day, often bringing her meals and voicing his opinions about her care. He wanted everyone to love and treat Patricia as he did. No doubt they are happy together again.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
