Patrick James Beatty

January 31, 1962 — January 19, 2021

Patrick (Paddy) James Beatty, 58, of Charlotte, NC passed away on January 19, 2021.  Paddy was born in Greenville, SC in 1962 to Henry Francis Beatty and Margaret Gordon Beatty.

Paddy was a proud US Marine Corps Veteran 1981-85 and an avid supporter of men/women in uniform, Military and Civilian.  He loved watching sports (a diehard NC State Wolfpack and Dallas Cowboys fan), keeping up with world events and politics, and playing golf.  If you were fortunate to have a conversation with him on sports or politics it always left you amazed at the amount of both current and historical knowledge he retained.  He was a very smart man.

Paddy grew up in Shelby, NC during a time when a kid could ride his bicycle across town by himself, spend all day exploring in the creeks and woods, and playing outside all day until his mother “whistled” him in for dinner.  He graduated from Shelby High School in 1980 and was a proud Shelby High Golden Lion.

Everyone who met him, loved him.  Always a big smile, Paddy would carry on a conversation with a stranger and would lend a helping hand without hesitation.  He made lifelong friends wherever he went, from childhood, the Marine Corps, and various jobs, most recently as a Service Technician with McCall Brothers Inc. in Charlotte NC for over 22 years.

Paddy is survived by his parents, Henry F. Beatty (Carolyn, Sweetwater TN) and Margaret (Peggy) G. Beatty (Charlotte NC); daughter, Maggie B. Engel (St. Clair MO); brothers, Michael G. Beatty (Charleston SC), Henry F. (Frank) Beatty Jr. (Ruth, Charlotte NC); sister, Katherine T. Beatty (Bluffton SC); two granddaughters, two nephews, and one niece.

No immediate service planned.
