Paul Volpe

February 27, 1948 — June 5, 2025

Paul Francis Volpe was born on February 27, 1948 and passed on June 5, 2025.

The first born son of Italian immigrants Frank Volpe and Christine Pensiero, Paul learned the craft of masonry from his father. He worked as a stone mason for nearly 50 years, creating walls, patios, and custom designs that improved homes and businesses. His work forever changed the landscape of central Connecticut. He was known for the artistry of his work and the joy he had in doing it, especially to those who had the good fortune of working alongside him.

An avid golfer, bowler, and member of his local Italian club, Paul also enjoyed playing bocce, cards, and pool. He loved being with friends and family and was most himself when he was with others. He was quick to joke, easy to laugh, and generous with his time. “Pop Pop,” as his young granddaughters called him, was the silly one that made them laugh. They crowded around him to read books, always at ease in his arms.

Paul was born in Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Pulaski High School in New Britain. He and his wife of 52 years, Cheryl, lived in Southington, Connecticut, before moving to South Carolina in 2014. He is survived by his sons, Christopher and Brendon; their wives, Chrissy and Erica; and three granddaughters who held a special place in his heart: Parker Amelia, June Adelaide, and Mason Letts. He also leaves behind siblings, Dianne, Doreen, and Dennis; eleven nieces and nephews, and countless loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, Paul would have liked donations in his name sent to Planned Parenthood of South Carolina.
