Raymond Eugene Chapman, a simple man who had a passion for woodwork and muscle cars, passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 72. He was born on February 26, 1951, in Mecklenburg County to the late Melvin and Ophelia Chapman. He is preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Raymond served in the Army during the Vietnam War where he was assigned to drive tanks.
He was known for his love of working with wood. He spent countless hours creating beautiful and intricate pieces along with other artist talents. His attention to detail and craftsmanship were second to none..
In addition to his love of woodworking, Raymond was also an avid car enthusiast. He had a particular fondness for muscle cars from, and spent many weekends with his car club.
He is survived by his 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
A memorial service will be held for Raymond on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at 11:00am at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville. The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00am.
