Rebecca M. Fennell

Rebecca "Becky" Marie Fennell, 82, passed away on July 20, 2023, at her home at Pruitt Health Union Pointe in Monroe, NC.  Becky was born on December 29, 1940 in Rutherford College, NC to Mattie Lee Polston.  She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in 1959.  She started her career as a secretary at Celanese in Charlotte and went on to work for over 30 years in the Legal and Real Estate profession.

Becky married Reid Kennedy in 1957 in Charlotte, NC.  The couple had 3 children, her sons, Kevin Kennedy of Greenville, SC, John Kennedy of Kings Mountain, NC and Michael Kennedy of Winston-Salem, NC.  Becky was best known for her love of her family, country music, the mountains of NC, the beach and her beloved Atlanta Braves and Carolina Panthers.  

Her love for people, from all walks of life, was a core strength of hers, and she enjoyed making everyone laugh. Her sense of humor was legendary.

In addition to her sons, Rebecca is survived by her dearest daughter in law, Carolyn Kennedy, her cherished granddaughters, Morgan Kennedy, Dallis Kennedy, and Libby Kennedy, her precious grandsons, Johnny and Jason Kennedy, and her wonderful great-granddaughter Tegan Hubert.

Becky is preceded in death by her mother, the matriarch of our family, Mattie Lee Almond.

The graveside service for Rebecca Fennell will be held on Sunday July 23, 2023 at 2:00pm at Forest Hill Cemetery at 200 Huffman St, Morganton NC.
