Richard Maurice Dalrymple, 76, of Huntersville, North Carolina, transitioned on December 25, 2019.
Richard was born in Manhattan, New York, December 24, 1943 to the late George and Daphne Dalrymple.  He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, George Dalrymple and son, Leonardis “Lenny” Maurice Dalrymple.

He is survived by his wife Donna, daughters Nicole (Tony) and Tanya (Fredd); grandchildren, Ethan, Ivana, Paris and Sydney; great-grand children, Kadence and Mason; nephew, George and niece, Daneen; cousins who were very much like siblings, Henry, Ralph, Renee (deceased), Daphne, Paul, David, Deborah and Timothy Greenidge as well as a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
Richard was a graduate of Hunter College in New York, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and worked as a manager in the Department of Social Services for the City of New York prior to retirement. As a connoisseur of Jazz, his license plate affectionately displayed “RMDJAZZ” in honor of his love for the genre of music. He enjoyed hosting the Saturday Morning Jazz Party on WHIP 1350 a.m. in Mooresville, North Carolina and made appearances hosting Jazz festivals and events around Charlotte, North Carolina and surrounding areas.

Richard never met a stranger and always had a wonderful story to tell especially relating to the arts and Jazz.  For those who were not Jazz enthusiast, he would surely spark their interest because he was very passionate about the music. He was passionate about Jazz’s rich history and its contribution to American culture. He made personal connections with many in North America and around the world with his radio show which not only broadcast on a local AM Station but also on the World Wide Web.  Richard has been honored for his service to the community at large.
