Richard Nolan Norton, 65, passed away on February 11, 2021. He was born to the late Grady and Willie Norton in Charlotte, NC on May 17, 1955.
Rick is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debbie Norton; daughter, Leslie (Bo) Crutchfield of Sherrills Ford, NC; granddaughter Callie Crutchfield; brothers Randall (Kathy) Norton of Ft. Mill and Ronnie (Tresa) Norton of Denver; sisters-in-law, Linda (Ellis) McIntosh of Denver, NC, Sharon (Curtis) Irwin of Charlotte, NC, and Janice(Alan) Ewing of Cummings, GA; and brother-in-law, Van (Scottie) Barker of Denver, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Rick loved His God first and was an active member of Fairfield UMC. He loved planning vacations for Debbie and himself. He enjoyed their trips out west snow skiing, snowmobiling, and enjoying the beauty of nature and wildlife. He loved finding the backroads of the places Debbie and he visited and taking it all in together. Rick loved his family vacations, smoking turkey for the holidays, frying fish, spending time with those he loved, and making memories with family and friends. Rick loved big and everybody loved Rick. No greater example of Rick’s big heart and ability to love was the love he shared with his granddaughter, Callie. The bond they shared was unique and special. They had so much fun and blessed each other in their time together.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rick’s honor to Fairfield UMC, 7860 Fairfield Forest Road, Denver, NC 28037.
The family will greet friends at 11:00am prior to the funeral service at 12:00pm; both will be held at Denver Baptist Church. The graveside service will immediately follow the funeral service at Fairfield UMC.
