Richard William Patterson, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on June 10, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with illness. He was surrounded by love in his final moments, with his devoted wife by his side.
Rick was a quiet yet strong presence, known for his dry wit, deep wisdom, and fierce loyalty to those he held dear. Though life brought its share of challenges, he met them all with grace and determination. His journey through illness revealed a man of extraordinary resilience and heart.
A husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Rick found joy in the simple things: the comfort of his home, a good story, and the steady presence of family. While relationships can be complex, what mattered most was the bond he shared with those who stood by him. His stepson was not just family by marriage, but by choice and by love—offering care and companionship until the very end.
Rick was a man of quiet strength and unwavering resilience. Those who truly knew him will remember his dry sense of humor, steady presence, and the loyalty he showed to the ones who stood beside him in both good times and hard ones. While his life, like many, was marked by complexity, what endured most was love, especially in the home he shared with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold & Lorraine Patterson, as well as his sister, Lynn Warwick.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Patterson; his devoted stepson, Jason White, and wife Leslie, who stood by him with unwavering care and love; and his two granddaughters, Abigail and Isabelle White, who brought light and joy into his life and made him immensely proud to be their “Papa”.
Richard is also survived by his sisters, Karen Hulslander (Howie) and Pam Patterson, and his brother, Hal Patterson (Candy), who each shared a lifetime of memories and connection with him.
Though some relationships grew distant over time, he also leaves behind his daughters, Stephanie Patterson and Amanda Greene, and his grandson, Jason Greene.
Richard’s life was defined not by circumstance, but by the people who chose to stand with him—and by the love he gave in return. He will be remembered not only for his perseverance, but for the quiet dignity with which he faced both life and death.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in accordance with his wishes.
