Ricky Kevin Sloop

July 31, 1962 — February 3, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ricky Kevin Sloop, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud Pawpaw, who left this world in peace on February 3rd, 2026 at the age of 63.

Ricky was a Senior Superintendent in Commercial Construction. His employer was James R. Vannoy and Sons Construction Company. He was a man of many admirable qualities: loving, funny, tough but fair, wise, humble, and always genuine. He led by example, believed in doing what was right, and taught those around him the value of honesty, hard work, and respect. While he didn’t always say much, when he did, his words carried meaning and stayed with you.

He was the beloved husband of Samantha Ritch Sloop, sharing a life together that was built on love, friendship, loyalty, and partnership that spanned 25 years. As a father, he was steady and dependable, offering guidance, protection, and quiet encouragement , and taught his children by example how to love our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Being a Pawpaw was a joy he cherished deeply. He loved his grandchildren and cherished the moments spent with them, including the joy of knowing another grandchild is on the way. He left behind a legacy of love his grandchildren will always carry. Outside of family, Ricky found happiness in the things that made him feel free and challenged. He loved riding side-by-sides, spending time shooting guns, flying RC planes, boating and camping, especially when it meant being outdoors with the people he loved. Those moments brought out his laughter and reflected his deep appreciation for simple, meaningful pleasures.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franey Clifford Sloop Jr. and Helen Coleen Hager Sloop, and by his son, Nicholas Chad Sloop, and two brothers Timothy Dale Sloop (Butch) and his baby brother, Christopher Sloop. Ricky leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and integrity. He is survived by his devoted wife, Samantha Ritch Sloop; his sons, Dakota Haene and his wife, Meghan, and their soon to arrive baby; Darren Sloop and his wife, Carley, and their son Sawyer; his daughter, Emily Ritchie, and her daughter Elise Ritchie. He is also survived by his brothers, Franey Clifford Sloop III and his wife, Evia, and Michael Thomas Sloop (Mickey). His father-in-law James Ritch Sr.; brother-in-law Jimmy Ritch and his wife Angel, Brother-in-law John Ritch, Sister-in-law Michele Bowman and husband James; as well as several aunts, uncles, many nieces and nephews, and countless cherished family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
