Rita Kay Watson, a beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away on December 29, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Rita's departure left a void in the hearts of all who knew her. Born on July 17, 1943, in West Virginia, she lived a life full of love and compassion.
Rita was truly a master of her craft as Cardiologist Assistant and all around Medical Professional. With unparalleled dedication and expertise, she tirelessly served the medical field for many years. Additionally, her exceptional skills as a medical transcriptionist made her an invaluable asset to the profession.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Rita's true joy in life came from cherishing family moments. When her children were young, she would eagerly go sleigh riding with them for hours on end, never faltering in providing endless fun and laughter. Rita understood the importance of family vacations and made it a priority to create unforgettable memories that would be treasured forever.
With an infectiously fun-loving and caring personality, Rita had an extraordinary ability to leave people with smiles on their faces. She possessed an incredible knack for seeing the best in everyone she encountered. Her genuine warmth and kindness touched the lives of countless individuals.
Flower gardening was more than just a hobby to Rita; it was a talent that came naturally to her. Blessed with a "green thumb," she nurtured beautiful plants and created vibrant gardens that brought joy to all who beheld them.
While Rita had numerous accomplishments throughout her life, there was one that held a special place in her heart – helping her daughter Sherrie become a loving, caring, independent women. This was undoubtedly one of her proudest moments as a mother, and it spoke volumes about the love, dedication and support Rita consistently provided to those closest to her.
Rita is preceded in death by her adoring husband Donald Watson. Their love story was one for the ages; their bond unbreakable even in death. Though she is no longer with us, the memories of Rita's love and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. Derek Watson, her son, and his wife Caitlin, along with her daughter Sherrie Watson, will perpetually hold her dear in their hearts. Rita's legacy will also be carried forward by her beloved grandson Cole Malone Watson.
In addition to her immediate family, Rita is survived by her sister Barbara Mast and husband El, along with several extended family. Together, they shared a lifetime of laughter and cherished moments that created an unbreakable bond.
To honor the memory of Rita Kay Watson, visitation services will be held at Raymer - Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville on January 27, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM. A Memorial Service will follow at the same location from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The address for these services is 16901 Old Statesville Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. Rita will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her caring nature and positive outlook on life have left an indelible mark on those she loved and touched.
