Roy Lee Abernathy

Mr. Roy Lee Abernathy, 52, of Iron Station, NC died Saturday November 13, 2010 at his residence. Born December 23, 1957 in Mecklenburg County he was a son of the late Charles Fulton Abernathy and Mary Helms Abernathy. He was a former heavy equipment operator for Scurry Construction Co and enjoyed the flea markets and dirt race track. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday November 16 in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Monday evening 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

He is survived by his brothers, David (Iris) Abernathy of Davidson, Richard (Robyn) Abernathy of Mt. Ulla, Perry (Susan) Abernathy of Mooresville, sisters, Sandra (Jerry) Nelson of Mooresville, Linda Abernathy of Charlotte, Mary Sissy (Roy) Lusk of Glenville, NC, special friend, Patty McConnell and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
