Denver

Sadie Parsons Slaughter, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 2, 2024. She was born on May 14, 1930, in Birmingham, Alabama. With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of a remarkable woman whose life touched many and left an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sadie was a loving mother who devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering love provided a strong foundation for her family. Her children were everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

In addition to being a dedicated mother, Sadie was creative with a life long passion for various hobbies and interests. She possessed remarkable talent in needlework and excelled in various forms of arts and crafts such as ceramics and stained glass. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Sadie also shared her wisdom and love for humanity by teaching Sunday school in her earlier years, volunteering at churches and hospitals, and sewing clothes for relief efforts. Her kind heart and gentle nature made her an exceptional role model for all.

Sadie is preceded in death by her parents and six brothers. Although they are no longer with us physically, their memories will forever be cherished in our hearts.

Left to cherish Sadie's memory is her loving husband of 69 years, Fred Slaughter. Together they built a lifetime of incredible memories that will be treasured forever. Fred not only provided unwavering support but also served as a pillar of strength during Sadie's final days.

Sadie leaves behind a legacy of love that extends to her children: Peggy Ainsworth and her husband Barry, Carol Chiles and her husband Webb, Robert Slaughter and his wife Pamela, and William Slaughter. These children were the pride and joy of Sadie's life, and she will forever remain their guiding light.

In addition to her devoted children, Sadie is survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Their lives have been enriched by the love and wisdom she bestowed upon them.

Sadie also leaves behind two beloved sisters, Marguerite Maveety and Freda Woodman as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews who have been touched by her kindness. Her extended family will forever hold dear the memories shared with her.
