Sara Trent Angel, 90, wife of Jack D. Angel, passed on November 29, 2025
Born in Reidsville, NC on October 9, 1935 to the late Marvin and Louise Trent, she was a graduate of Greensboro Woman’s College with a degree in education. Sara enjoyed years of teaching high school students in Distributive Education. After moving to Charlottesville, VA, her career shifted towards accounting, and she became a bookkeeper for the First Baptist Church of Charlottesville. Sara and Jack Moved to Raleigh in 1977 and after working as a tax preparer, she later retired from H&R Block.
Retirement took them to Etowah, NC for their last big move. Sara enjoyed the mountains and their annual summers at their cabin in Maine. Mother’s Day week was always spent in Hilton Head, surrounded by family and new friends, one of whom “adopted” them as surrogate parents. (Thank you Al!)
Macular Degeneration robbed Sara of many beloved activities. She loved crafts and was a gifted knitter and quilter. She was also an avid reader and loved getting book recommendations from her neighbors and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Kristi Patterson and her grandsons, Trent and Shawn. She had a very close relationship with her sister-in-law, Dawn Marsh, and her children Angie, Ben, Jennifer and their families.
She was preceded in death by her brother Elmer, her sister Marjorie, and her niece Joan. She was blessed with many nieces and nephews. Carol, Matha, Patricia, Wayne, Lee and their families were never far from her heart.
Macular degeneration and caregiving for Jack, who has dementia, had the greatest impact on Sara’s life. We ask that you consider giving a donation to either association in lieu of flowers. The American Macular Degeneration Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Memorial services are incomplete at this time, but a celebration of life will be on Sunday the 28th of December. Please check back shortly for further service information.
