Shirley McMurray, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 29, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on February 23, 1949, Shirley dedicated much of her life to creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. Though she spent the majority of her years in New Jersey, she embraced a new chapter in her life when she relocated to North Carolina.

Shirley was known for her adventurous spirit and zest for life. She found joy and fulfillment in a variety of hobbies, including pickleball, which quickly became a passion of hers. Her love for her dogs was profound, and they often accompanied her in outdoor adventures. Gardening was another of her cherished pursuits, where she cultivated vibrant blooms that mirrored her colorful personality. A lover of water, Shirley enjoyed swimming, whether it be at the pool or the beach.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her children: Ronnette Nolff, Patrick McCleary, Ivy Young, Holly Sweeney, and Bridgette Almada. Shirley was also a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Shirley is preceded in death by her father, Leon Ferguson, and her mother, Mary Ferguson.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will take place on June 4, 2025, at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, North Carolina. The service will begin at 3:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM.

Shirley McMurray will be lovingly remembered for her adventurous spirit, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering love for those around her. Her memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
