Stacey Haglund

Stacey Haglund passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 27, 2026, after a courageous journey with colorectal cancer. She is now home with her Lord and Savior and reunited with her father, Bill Thomson. While cancer ultimately claimed her life, it never defined it. Stacey remained true to herself until her very last breath—meeting each day with faith, grace, gratitude, and an enduring love for others.

Stacey grew up in Somers, CT and attended the University of Richmond, where she developed a deep love of biology and a passion for teaching young people, initially at Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, CT and concluding at Community School of Davidson in Davidson, NC.

She was an active member of Lake Forest Church. Stacey rarely missed a chance to play tennis and Mahjong with her friends at The Peninsula Club, but her greatest joy was her family. Stacey is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. Robert Haglund; her beloved children, Mia and Parker; and her mother, Karen Thomson. She also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends who will miss her deeply and carry her memory forward.

Stacey’s faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, providing strength through every season and hope that never wavered. Even during her illness, she continued to encourage those around her with her optimism, kindness, and quiet courage.

Stacey often encouraged others to simply love life. Her example reminds us that even in life’s hardest seasons, there is still beauty to be found, joy to be shared, and hope that endures.

Stacey will be remembered for her infectious smile, unmistakable laugh, and generous heart. She had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and loved, whether they had known her for years or had just met. She found joy in life’s everyday moments and inspired others to do the same.

A celebration of Stacey’s life will be held on Thursday, August 6, at 4:00 p.m. at Lake Forest Church, with a dinner reception immediately following at The Peninsula Club. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend both the service and reception.
