The family of SUZETTE KING, aka MAMA SUE, regrets to announce her passing on October 6, 2022, at her daughter's residence in North Carolina. Her daughters Daina and Ariel were with her when she transitioned peacefully, after a seven month bout with cancer.
She was preceded in death by Clement King (father), Oscar Carmichael (step father), Hilary King (brother), Alfred and Agnes Delph (grandparents), Camille Letman (aunt), and John and Bernard Delph (uncles).
She is survived by her mother, Barbara Carmichael; children, Anastasia Kenny, her husband Dan Kenny (Colorado), Daina Hickson, her husband Harold Hickson (North Carolina), and Ariel Trumbull (St. Croix); grandchildren, Annabelle, Liam and Kieran Kenny and Cole Hickson; brother, Dr. Linden Carmichael his wife Donna Carmichael (Illinois); nieces, Isabella Carmichael, Kayla and AJ Hollingsworth (Illinois) and Denise Delph (New York). Also left to mourn are uncles, Raymond and Clairmonte Delph (New York); aunts, Paula Delph (Scotland), Sandra Benjamin (New York), and Rosslyn Corrie (England); beloved nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention and countless friends who loved her dearly.
Suzette worked as an Art Teacher at St. Mary's school. She also was a Religious Education Teacher at St. Joseph Church, and was loved by all. Especially Grade 6 students, whom she taught.
Suzette's request was to be cremated and her ashes scattered in the sea, where she loved the most.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of St Luke's AME Church, Grove Place, St. Croix., 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2022.
Celebration of Suzette's life will be held at Cane Bay Beach on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 1:00 PM until sunset. We are asking that everyone bring a dish and/or drink so we can break bread together in celebration of her life. Don't forget to also bring your tents, chairs, towels and anything you need to make this a memorable occasion.
