Sylvia Louise Saar Reap of Cornelius, NC passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 23 at the age of 88.
She was born in Scranton, PA on October 23, 1935, the daughter of the late William and Louise Houser Saar. She graduated from Scranton Technical High School, Scranton, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, William J Reap.
Mimi, as she was known by her immediate family, will always be remembered as our beloved mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated, supportive and loving mother to all her children, but especially to her firstborn child who had special needs and required lifelong care. Education was fiercely important to her, and she encouraged the family to always strive to do their best. She raised her daughters to be independent and strong.
Surviving are her four daughters, Kathleen Ellen Reap; Erin Louise Reap (Paul Barics); Ellen Reap Miller (Scott); Eileen Simpson; grandchildren, Emily Simpson McDonald (Will); Abbie Miller Price (Mitch); Annie Simpson; Matthew Miller; Will Barics. She is also survived by her sister, June Marie Saar (Owen Costello); and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Saar; grandchildren William Glen Simpson and Caroline Louise Miller; several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Sylvia’s life at a funeral mass on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St Mark Catholic Church (Huntersville) located at 14740 Stumptown Rd, Huntersville, NC 28078. Graveside service will be Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton, PA.
