Concord

Sylvia “Dale” Van Wagner, 75, of Concord, NC passed away on March 2, 2026.

Dale was born in Fountain Inn, SC on December 10, 1950, to the late George Harold Pearson and Euna Mae Pearson (Norris).

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Van Wagner; brother, Ben Pearson.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Sheets; son, Deke; daughter-in-law, Erica Van Wagner; grandchildren, McKinley Sheets (18), Arden Van Wagner (15), & Hannah Sheets (12).

A graveside service will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on March 13, 2026 at 10am.

Dale loved life. She retired from the Department of Mental Health after spending decades there. As a USC graduate, she loved cheering on her Gamecocks and would often call her son while the game was on to talk about the plays. She was an avid gardener and was looking forward to her zinnias (her favorite) popping up this Spring. She volunteered at Riverbanks Zoo for many years, and this brought her so much joy. She made the best lemon poundcake you could ever wish for. She was a wonderful mom and she will be missed greatly.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to USC School of Medicine. After retirement, Dale worked there as a standardized patient for many years. She really enjoyed helping future physicians learn.
