In retirement, Tom and his wife Barb enjoyed traveling and decided to move across country to San Diego. California where Tom could enjoy his favorite pastime of golf at Torrey Pines. They enjoyed almost fifteen years on the West Coast and decided to move closest to their younger daughter Melissa and son in law Mike. They enjoyed their time together boating on Lake Norman and family dinners on their back porch. They joined Stonebridge Community Church and enjoyed joining in small life group and making friends in the community.
