William Charles Thomson

William “Bill” Charles Thomson, 73, of Denver, NC passed into heaven on March 2, 2020 after a brief battle with cancer.  Bill was born in Lawrence, MA on July 24, 1946 to William and Helen Thomson.  Bill is survived by his loving wife, Karen Thomson, daughter Stacey Haglund, son-in-law Rob Haglund and grandchildren, Mia and Parker Haglund of Cornelius, NC.

Bill adored his wife Karen of nearly 50 years, and enjoyed spending time with her and traveling with her, especially to Florida, where they spent most winters.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Bill worked as a financial advisor in Mooresville, NC, loved his job, the people he worked with and his clients.  He was always interested in what the stock market was doing.

Bill was also passionate about golf, having played since he was just 7 years old.  He grew up playing golf in Connecticut with his dad.  He went on to play in college and continued enjoying the game the rest of his life.  He always looked forward to fun on the course with his golfing friends.

Bill was an avid fan of his grandkid’s sporting teams.  His granddaughter, Mia, has played soccer, tennis and basketball, and his grandson, Parker, has played golf, soccer, cross country and basketball. Bill was a huge fan and great supporter of all their teams and loved being at the games.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 8 in the chapel at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC.  The family will receive friends for a gathering from 2:00 until the start of the service.  A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family has created a memorial fund for a bench to honor Bill and his passion of watching his grandchildren’s sports.  The bench is to be placed at the athletic park of his grandchildren’s school overlooking the athletic fields.
