William Gary Zemcik, 79 of Huntersville, North Carolina passed away on September 16th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at his home in North Carolina.

Bill was a loving husband to his wife Cindy of 57 years, a devoted father to his three children and cherished grandfather to two grandchildren. He was an extraordinary person who was adored by all who knew him, and he loved spending time with his wife and family. He loved anything related to football, whether it was playing the game while in high school and college, coaching, or watching the Pittsburgh Steelers every Sunday. He enjoyed hunting for treasures at flea markets and antique stores, restoring old radios, listening to “oldies” music, playing golf and was an amazing cook.

Bill’s entire career was dedicated to teaching, coaching and inspiring students in the Greater Latrobe School District in Pennsylvania for thirty years. He also dedicated an additional seven years to teaching in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System. Twice in his career he was named “Teacher of the Year” in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Prior to his career, he served in the Army and is a Vietnam Veteran.

Bill is survived by his wife Cynthia (Cindy), his three children, Christine (Christy) Zemcik, William (B.J.) Zemcik (Nicole Zemcik), and Cynthia Leonard. Grandchildren Hailey Leonard and Trey Zemcik. In addition, Bill is survived by two brothers, Ronald (Ron) Zemcik, and James (Jim) Zemcik. Bill was preceded in death by his brother John (Jack) Zemcik and his parents William and June Zemcik.

Services were provided by Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville. A Mass to honor the life of William G. Zemcik will be held at St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte, North Carolina at 10:30am on October 2, 2025.
