Leslie "Les" Hayne Schriber

April 10, 1950 — February 20, 2023

Cornelius

On Monday, February 20, 2023, Leslie Hayne Schriber, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away unexpectedly at age 72. Les was born in Point Pleasant, NJ, on April 10, 1950, to the late Les Schriber and Elsie Butler Schriber.

Les graduated from Point Pleasant Borough High School, 1968, where he was proud to be a part of the first undefeated football team. He graduated from Northland College, WI, and enjoyed a successful career as a sales executive.

As a lifeguard on Point Pleasant Beach, Les met his future wife, Judi Kelleher. Les spent most of his adult life in Montclair, NJ, where he and Judi raised their five children.  While he travelled extensively for work, he always made time to be there for his children’s activities.  He was actively involved in local sports, coaching Little League baseball and softball teams, as well as the Montclair American Legion baseball team. Once their children were grown, Les and Judi moved to North Carolina to be near their family, where he then enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren.  He also enjoyed watching his New York Yankees . . . we think.

He and Judi created many memories traveling with family and friends, or you could find him sitting around the fire pit enjoying his favorite cigar.

Les is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judi Kelleher; his son, Brendan Schriber and his wife, Erin; son, Erik Schriber and his wife, Joni; son, Jeffrey Schriber and his partner, Tara; son, Gregory Schriber and his wife, Alexandra; daughter, Kelly Schriber; brother, Edward Schriber and his wife, Barbara; and grandchildren Christopher, Gabby, Caitlin, Ellie, Kaitlyn, Isabella, Riley, and Derek.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville, NC, Friday, March 3, 2023. Memorials may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675.
